Reporting Mechanisms
The Department of Justice categorizes antisemitic incidents into two distinct types for reporting purposes: those that qualify as hate crimes and those that do not.
Hate Crime Incidents:
Incidents that are bias-motivated should initially be reported to local law enforcement agencies.
After notifying local authorities, these incidents can also be reported to the FBI via their online platform here, by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324), or through your nearest FBI field office.
The FBI may contact you to gather further details as part of their investigation.
Non-Crime Hate Incidents:
Any occurrence that does not meet the criteria of a crime but involves bias can be reported to the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ.
Submit a report concerning a civil rights infringement here.
Once submitted, the DOJ may respond by requesting additional information, initiating mediation or an investigation, referring you to another agency for more assistance, or informing you if they are unable to provide help.
